Although Diascia is normally treated as a half-hardy annual, most are frost hardy and will survive for many years. The foliage tends to be small and carpet forming, with the flower spikes normally trailing. This makes Diascia an ideal plant for the rockery or hanging baskets and other permanent containers. They like well drained soil with plenty of humus, but should be planted in a sheltered, sunny position.
Clear away most of the top growth each autumn and apply a feed of slow acting fertilizer.
