Aquilegia are perennial plants growing as a rosette of foliage from a stout taproot before producing tall flowerspikes of roughly bell-shaped flowers with long spurs attached.
Can be grown from seed or planted as young plants. Cut flower stems to ground when blooms fade to prevent seeding all over the garden.
No toxic, culinary or medicinal properties known.
