Commonly called smoke trees or smoke bushes due to the appearance of the very fine flowers looking like feathery plumes, that appear over the bushes.
Hardy shrub that can stand heavy pruning when overgrowing its position. If pruned hard in spring the resulting new foliage will be vigorous and lush at the expense of flowers.
